FIRE's projects originate from Dr. Carolina Restini. Her passion is for building partnerships to serve the communities while providing extramural educational opportunities for medical students. Medical students learn from and serve their community in continuing educational actions to strengthen the connection between MSU and communities in Southeast Michigan. Our goal is to enrich the educational experiences of high schoolers while allowing medical students to serve as educators. Fostering these relationships with community leaders in southeast Michigan has led to these projects being converted to a sustainable program called FIRE, Foundry for Innovative Research and Education.
