About Us

The Foundry for Innovative Research and Education (FIRE) at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MSUCOM) is a dynamic program designed to integrate medical education, community-engaged research, and outreach services.

FIRE was founded by Dr. Carolina Restini, driven by her passion for creating community partnerships while enriching the education of medical students. FIRE enhances student engagement by promoting community-centered projects, empowering students to serve as educators, and strengthening Michigan State University’s ties with Southeast Michigan communities. These collaborations have evolved into a sustainable program known as FIRE, committed to bridging academic learning and community service.
